If you are feeling a lot of lower back pain, this can make you feel down and depressed. Fortunately, a chiropractor can help you with relief of your back pain in many ways, three of which are listed below. Your pain and your depression will then be lifted so you will feel much better.

Evaluation

When you make your appointment with a chiropractor the first thing they will do is an evaluation. This will help them determine where your back pain is coming from. The chiropractor will ask you about your eating habits to ensure that you are eating healthy. They will also ask you about the type of job you have and how much stress you are under. This is because stress can cause pain, including pain in your back.

The chiropractor will then ask you about your symptoms and history of back pain. They will want to know if you had any type of injury or did the pain just start on its own. The chiropractor will ask you to show them where your back hurts and for you to describe your pain. For example, you may be feeling a throbbing pain, or the pain may be sharp or burning.

Examination

After the evaluation, the next step is to give you an exam. This will include things like taking your blood pressure, check your reflexes, and check your pulse. The chiropractor may also want to do some orthopedic tests, such as check your muscle tone and range of motion in your back.

Other tests may also be administered, such as asking you to stand and move in a certain way and check your posture.

If the chiropractor wants to have an MRI done of your back, they will send you outside of their office to a medical facility. Most chiropractors are able to do x-rays in their facility, however. In some cases, the chiropractor may send you to an orthopedic doctor if they feel you have someone physically wrong with your back that they are not able to handle.

Spinal Manipulation

The chiropractor will perform spinal manipulation on your back to help relieve your pain. This is also often called manual therapy.

Spinal manipulation involves the chiropractor using their hands to move a jolt the joints in your back. They will also use massage, physical therapy and have you do certain exercises at home. This type of therapy relieves the pressure on the joints in your back, reduce the inflammation in your back muscles, and improve the nerve function.

Spinal manipulation is used to treat other types of pain also, including headache, shoulder, and neck. Many chiropractors will also use this type of therapy to help women who have a lot of menstrual pain.
